Reveal were honoured to be asked to deliver “Game On” workshops to West Bromwich Albion FC Academy where we were able to work with the whole of the Academy cohorts, exploring the issues of extremism and building resilience. The participants were a credit to the Club and were able to explore their own experiences how as young footballers they can support each other as well as develop their own resilience. “Game On” originally started back in 2007 with Port Vale FC Valiants Against Racism so it was nice to ‘return home’ to footballing community.
The Game On workshops have been adapted for Years 5 or 6 pupils to explore extremism and terrorism in a way that children can understand without fear.
Our work continues delivering “Game On” across the Regions in Derby, Leicester, Walsall, Coventry and London Borough of Lambeth. We have delivered our “Game On” workshops that challenge and explore Extremism both non-violent and violent that can impact on all our lives. The work is delivered in Schools and is commissioned by Local Authorities working with the Home Office and the Prevent Agenda. “Game On” has developed over twelve years of delivery in Schools – the work began in our home City of Stoke-on-Trent where issues connected to the Far Right and Islamist ideology and organisations that impacted on our communities and hence our schools.
We continue to work with young people to ensure their resilience to the extremist views and opinions that they can find in their communities and online – with fake news and rumours making finding their way through the hate and division that is impacting on our schools and our communities. If our children and young people can recognise these divisions – they can and will ensure their futures will be lived in safety and contentment. The “Game On” Section will keep you informed as to our delivery in schools across the Regions.
